Lead Pastor, Shayne Powell Th.M, Ph.D, is from Greenville, SC and was raised on the mission field in the West Indies and Bethel, Alaska. He has been operating in a pastoral capacity for more than 23 years and has served at JOURNEY CHURCH for eleven. His passion is preaching the “whole counsel” God's Word (Acts 20:27). He attended Fruitland Bible College, Liberty University, & Omega Seminary. He has six children with his wife, Sonya. His downtime is spent writing, fishing with his kids, playing the guitar, and perusing used book stores.

The Vaughn's are our married-ministry team in the Children's department. They are taking this church into our vision of being a "Generational Church"! Mike is a charter member who has always had vision for a dynamic children's department. Ashley is a professional school teacher and loves seeing children grow in the Lord. Both are committed to seeing our children follow, obey and love Jesus as true disciples. They have two children, Maddison & Nathan.

Romans 5:20-21  Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,  so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

STUDENT MINISTRIES: 
Shayne & Sonya Powell (interim)
The Powell's are our interim married-ministry team over the youth group and student ministries. They have been involved in kids and youth ministries for over 20 years and have a heart for seeing Journey Church students follow Christ radically and faithfully.  They have six children of their own with whom they love spending time (especially at the beach!).

​They are currently going through the LIFE Study from ym360 on Wednesdays and the Book of John on Sundays.

ELDER, Community Groups - Bob Ramskill
Cheryl Ramskill - Financial Secretary 

Bob has served as an elder in previous churches. Cheryl is  Journey Church’s leader of Women’s Deep Dive Bible Study. The Ramskill's are from a Messianic Jewish congregation previous to Journey Church, and add significant depth to the spiritual maturity of this body of believers. Both enjoy gardening, mentoring / discipling people in Christ, and visiting their kids and grands. The Ramskill’s also host one of our Community Groups - the dynamic Maggie Valley - JCreek group.

John Roberts
​ELDER, ADULT DISCIPLESHIP

John has served as an elder and a teacher in various churches. He enjoys interactive classes where his students engage in the study of God’s Word. He is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, an avid camper, and has 2 daughters with his wife, Theresa.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR
 
​Stacy is involved with Women’s Ministries throughout Haywood County. She is the director of Lifeworks Women’s Ministry and is the visionary behind Journey Church’s TRANSFORMED WOMENS CONFERENCE. Her passion is to see women free in Christ, and for the Bride of Christ to be pure and thriving in the Holy Spirit. She and her Husband, Mark, have two teenage children, Aaron and April (Journey Church’s AV specialist).
